Let the anticipation begin, again, for the upcoming Kendrick Lamar album. Only this time we know what's coming and can presumably expect to receive what's promised.
There was a strong sense of collective disappointment among Kendrick Lamar fans upon realizing he would, in fact, not be releasing a new album on April 7, as was seemingly indicated at the end of "The Heart Part 4." A good number of fans had even foregone a good night's sleep the night before to hear the album, only to be left wanting, receiving instead the album's pre-order link and very few details about its contents.
Fortunately the wait wouldn’t last long, as the release date has been set for April 14, and now we find a more revelatory Kendrick sharing some details about the album. The Compton rapper’s latest project will be titled DAMN., and the cover art and tracklist are now available.
Here is the entire tracklist:
6. LOYALTY FT. RIHANNA
11. XXX FT. U2
As far as the direction of the album, Kendrick told T Magazine back in March:
“I think now, how wayward things have gone within the past few months, my focus is ultimately going back to my community and the other communities around the world where they’re doing the groundwork…To Pimp a Butterfly was addressing the problem. I’m in a space now where I’m not addressing the problem anymore. We’re in a time where we exclude one major component out of this whole thing called life: God. Nobody speaks on it because it’s almost in conflict with what’s going on in the world when you talk about politics and government and the system.”
To follow up the release of DAMN., Kendrick is also slated to headline Coachella at the end of this month. For now, try to avoid the agony of the wait for DAMN. by listening “Humble” and "The Heart Part 4”
