NBA LEGEND BILL RUSSELL HAS PASSED AWAY AT THE AGE OF 86
On Sunday, July 31st, NBA legend Bill Russell passed away at the age of 88. THE LEGEND
was known for his dominance on the court, and he is considered one of the greatest players
in NBA history Russell led the Boston Celtics to 11 championships in 13 seasons, and was
inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1975.
Bill Russell was born February 12, 1934 in west Monroe, Louisiana, and he played college
basketball at the University of San Francisco. After graduating from college, he joined the
Celtics where he would spend his entire 13-year career. In that time, he led the Celtics to 11
championships and was named NBA MVP in 1958, 1961-1963,1965.
